About the Club

Mission Statement

Ngauruhoe Ski Club strives to be a pleasurable, safe and welcoming environment for all our snow-loving whanau to experience the beauty of our maunga.

Whilst providing high quality facilities, the club also endeavour to promote a culture of inclusiveness that allows members and guests to enjoy each others company whilst staying at Ngauruhoe Ski Club. The "club spirit"  differentiates us from all other lodges on the mountain. The inclusive culture is actively kept alive by members helping out at work parties, belonging to the committee and helping when needed at the club.

Ngauruhoe Ski Club facilities are also available outside the official "ski season". Mountain biking, bush walking, fishing, The Old Coach Road and the Tongairio Crossing are all close by. Family and social events can also be accommodated at Ngauruhoe Ski Club as both lodges can be booked for exclusive use at economical rates.

With a mix of families, younger singles and senior members, Nguaruhoe Ski Club has something to offer skiers of any age group and ability.
Racing is an integral part of club activities, with club ski and snowboard races organised for all ages. The Ngauruhoe Ski Club Trophy Race is the largest inter -club race on the mountain. It is keenly contested by most of the clubs in the Iwikau Village. The after race party is a highlight and as skiers and snow boarders eagerly anticipate the race results!

Ski development is also an important function of the club membership with training squads for juniors and teens.  Adults have the opportunity to join an adult's midweek development program. This is a fun week and is well renowned for being a social week for adult members of the club.

In addition, ladies week, children's race weeks and a themed parties round out the exciting winter season calendar.

Whilst staying at one of the two modern and comfortable lodges, every member is assigned a light duty to keep the club running smoothly and share the workload.  Cooking and food preparation is managed by your wonderful cooks who re resident at both lodges from early July until the end of October.

Membership is by invitation from a current senior member, seconded by another senior member, and requires the invitee(s) to complete work parties over the summer months. Invitees must be 18 years or over to qualify for senior membership, and there are also Family, Junior and Veteran membership categories. Ngauruhoe is a diverse club for keen skiers and snowboarders, and we welcome enquiries from anyone interested in becoming a member of an active and social ski club.
